About Fontès

Fontes is a small charming village situated in the Hérault department and Languedoc-Roussillon region, in the south of France at 41 kilometres from Montpellier and 38 kilometers from Béziers. The village has 1019 habitants, its own local bakery, a restaurant, a café and bar, a very well-renowned butcher as well as a post office, a pharmacy, three (!) hair-dressers and a doctor - a perfect village size. The name Fontès originates from "fountain" and  the town is actually famous for its excellent water. You may see people visiting with empty jars, just to collect water from the old source located in the centre of the town.

The village centre is a mere 7 minute walk from the house for easy access to the bakery for your morning baguette and croissants. Only 5 km away is the pretty village of Neffiès with three excellent restaurants. 14 km away is the medieval town of Pézenas. The Mediterrannean beaches are 25 minutes away by car , where you can choose among several beaches and many wonderful oyster restaurants.
