Nature
Languedoc is perfect for walking enthusiasts. There is actually a marked walking path starting just outside the house. Cycling and canoeing are other popular activities.
Béziers
This town is said to be one of Europes oldest towns. Here you are close to everything - the ocean, the mountain and all the interesting sights in the Languedoc-Roussillon area.
The wineries
Languedoc is one of the biggest wine producing areas in France and in the world. About 40 per cent of all French wines is produced here. Actually, the story goes that the very first champagnes were actually produced in Languedoc as it was here that Dom Pérignon learned the art of making sparkling wine (which are called Crémant and Blanquette here). During the last 20 years, there has been a substantial quality improvement in Languedoc wines. See for yourself - there are more than 500 wineries in the region.

Pézenas and Carcassonne
Pézenas is a medieval city filled with beautiful paved streets, cafés, restaurants, craft workshops and over 70 antique shops. Pézenas is also famous for its Saturday market.
Carcassonne (below) is France's second-most visited tourist spot after the Tour Eiffel. Another medieval treasure not to be missed.
The beaches
The Languedoc coast line is 220 km all the way down to the Spanish border. Some of the beaches are said to be among the most beautiful in South of France. You can make your own choice between secluded beaches or beaches with more activities.

The markets
Several French villages in the Languedoc region have their own markets. About once a week, the villages comes alive with bustling market stalls. The market in nearby Pézenas market is held every Saturday and is famous all over Languedoc. Here you will find food, clothing, flowers and everything you can think of.
